News: Stickers.

by Ty J

Wheat Twins recently added stickers to our offering. What’s better about stickers over rocks or acorns is that stickers can be used to signal, mark and communicate. And while I never collected stickers myself, I stuck to rocks and acorns—never even on my Nalgene bottles or laptops—I think street stickers are a really cool phenomenon. The visual culture surrounding sticker art is absolutely fantastic. Check out our stickers collection if you haven’t already. We hope to continue developing our sticker game in the days to come. We're already learning so much about graphic form from really great sticker art.

What makes stickers unique is that they're an easy way for anyone to partake in street art and join the conversation. But always remember to use etiquette. It isn’t hard to find space for your sticker installation no matter where you live. In almost any big city, or even small one, you can find a spot that’s appropriate and welcoming. There will be a good reason why street artists will gravitate toward a district, building, or even single business in a city or town. In every city or town I've lived, I can think of several spots that were right for sticker installation. It’s also fun to carry stickers with you in case you happen upon the right spot.

If you're ever in the Philadelphia area, Tattooed Mom (photos below) is a local bar and restaurant that’s worth the visit. They have a pretty fantastic setup. Visitors are welcome to post their own stickers or wheat paste upstairs, in the bathroom, or anywhere that is contextually appropriate. You’ll also find the Sticky Art Machine, a vending machine selling limited edition and exclusive stickers by local and international artists. Happy hunting and God bless.
